During the August 11 meeting of the Vidalia City Council approved an increase in price in the installation of water meters and sewage lines to account for the recent rise in cost of supplies.

The changes in rates of water meter installation were adjusted and explained based on the size of the meter. The changes in rates were as follows: ¾” meters — $1,220 (was previously $800) 1” meters — $1,750 (was previously $900) 2” meters — $5.000 (was previously $2,600) The fee for the completion of a sewer tap service was also adjusted, as a 4” sewer tap will now cost $1,000 (was previously $900), and a 6” sewer tap will now cost $1,500 (was previously $900).

In addition to these changes, any necessary road cut will also now cost the property owner between $750 and $1,000.

These changes came as a recommendation from the City’s finance committee and were approved by the Council.
