Lady Vikings Softball Rolls Through Three Opponents


The Treutlen County High School Lady Vikings softball team proved unstoppable last week, securing three consecutive wins in a series of impressive performances that showcased their offensive firepower and strong pitching. They kicked off the week with a win over Wheeler County, then won against Montgomery County and finally defeated Dublin. vs. Wheeler Co.
The Lady Vikings kicked off their winning streak with a hard-fought 6-3 victory over Wheeler County on Monday. Wheeler got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, but Treutlen answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 2-1 lead.
After falling behind 3-2 in the sixth inning, the Lady Vikings rallied in the bottom of the inning to score four runs and jump into the lead. An error scored one run, Kenley Kight singled to bring in two more, and Taylor Gillis drew a walk to score the final run of the inning.
Pitcher Ella Roberson was a force on the mound, earning the win after surrendering just four hits and two earned runs over a complete seven-inning game, striking out seven batters along the way. vs. Montgomery
Tuesday saw a lopsided contest as the Lady Vikings dismantled Montgomery County with a commanding 15-3 victory. The Treutlen offense was firing on all cylinders. Treutlen jumped out with three runs in the top of the first inning. MCHS picked up a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Vikings added two more in the top of the second to take a 5-1 lead. Treutlen added a run in the third inning, and then in the top of the fourth, they collected five runs on six hits, with Jayden Rogers, Desirae Bright, and Kenley Kight all singling to score multiple runs in the inning. That pushed the lead to 11-1.
The scoring continued in the fifth inning as four more runs crossed the plate, highlighted by an Ella Roberson solo inside- the-park home run. The Vikings went on to take the win, 15-3, as MCHS did manage to score two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Pitcher Kenley Kight was phenomenal, leading the team with a no-hit, three-inning performance. vs. Dublin
The week was capped off with a 16-5 victory over Dublin on Wednesday, a game in which the Lady Vikings tallied an incredible 15 hits. Treutlen jumped to an early lead in the first inning when Ruthie Blair walked and Jayden Rogers doubled, scoring three runs combined. The lead was extended in the second inning thanks to a Taylor Gillis single and an Ella Roberson groundout, with each scoring a run.
Dublin picked up a run in the first inning and then four more in the bottom of the second inning as they tied the game at 5-5, but Treutlen added a run in the top of the fourth to take a 6-5 lead. The Vikings added two more in the fifth and three in the sixth to extend their lead to 11-5.
Treutlen sealed the win with a five-run seventh inning on three hits, including an Ella Roberson walk, a Maya Brinson single, and a dropped third strike that each scored a run.
On the mound, Ella Roberson pitched the full game, striking out 12 and walking five over seven innings. The offense was truly a team effort, with Jayden Rogers and Taylor Gillis each collecting three hits, while Maya Brinson and Addyson Horne both had multiple hits. The team also showed their speed on the base paths, with Jayden Rogers, Taylor Gillis, Kenley Kight, and Jada Wright all stealing multiple bases.
This week Treutlen was in action on Monday and Tuesday after presstime as they played Jefferson County and Wilcox County. They will be back in action on Thursday when they host Putnam County at 5:30 p.m.
