The Greater Vidalia Chamber kicked off its 32nd annual Leadership Class on Thursday, August 14, as 16 local professionals met for orientation to learn more about themselves and their leadership styles.

The two-day orientation featured discussions on the importance of leadership and differing personality types, as the group worked through team-building exercises to learn more about themselves and working collaboratively.

Throughout the remainder of the class, the participants will explore local businesses and industries throughout the area, including Agribusiness, Education, Government, Culture and Leisure Services, Health and Social Services, and Economic Development. Each session is designed to highlight the inner workings of the community and how participants can engage with personal topics of interest around them.

The class is also split into small groups, who meet throughout the year to work to develop goals, individual mottos, and perform a community service activities within the community. These small groups are led by previous graduates of the Leadership Class, who help to guide the current class members throughout their journey in the program. This year’s leadership coaches are Paige Alexander, Gene Morris, Justin Quarterman, Makaylee Randolph, and Mario Zamorano.

During the last meeting of the group, the participants will present their personal leadership journeys, as they explain the effects of what they learned in the class on their lives and will ultimately graduate from the program.

The program is overseen by Leadership Class Chairs Jordan Robins and Clint Hutcheson, who are both graduates of the program.

Several local businesses, government entities, school systems, and industries are represented in the program, including Vidalia City Schools, Vidalia Cornerstone Church, Memorial Health Meadows Hospital, Chick-fil-A of Vidalia, STS Group, Community Hospice, Dot Foods, Toombs County Schools, The Tillery Firm, Parlor Marketing, Montgomery County Development Authority, Ameris Bank, Robert Toombs Christian Academy, Toombs County Tax Assessors, and Walmart.
