On Tuesday morning, August 5, Memorial Health Meadows Hospital invited community members to see the new renovations of the recently completed $1.2 million emergency room expansion project The emergency room renovations have been ongoing over the past several weeks, as the hospital worked to expand the “Fast Track” area of the facility’s emergency room, which works to quickly assess and treat less severe medical conditions within the ER. This expansion included increasing capacity from 5 bays to 12 bays. Each bay now has its own computer, which allows providers to work more efficiently and quickly to care for patients.
At the center of the Fast Track area, five new workstations were installed to help providers and nurses remain closely connected when working with patients, which further improves care coordination. A private medication room and full supply room were also added in this area, allowing staff to access needed supplies more quickly and easily.
Three additional exam rooms were added to the back of the Emergency Department, and two new family restrooms were installed within the area. The consultation room was relocated to help give patients and families more privacy, and the nurses’ station was also redesigned to improve efficiency.
“This project represents a major investment in the future of our Emergency Department and the care we provide,” Memorial Health Meadows Hospital CEO Wesley Taylor remarked. “More and more patients from across our region are choosing Meadows because they want excellent care without the burden of long drives or crowded city hospitals.”
Memorial Health Meadows Hospital Emergency Department Director Haley Powell also spoke on the expansion. “Every inch of this space was designed with care, efficiency, and teamwork in mind,” she emphasized. “Fast Track now operates like its own self-contained care area, and these improvements allow our team to move quickly while staying focused on the patient.”
Both Taylor and Powell agreed that the expansion supports the hospital’s mission to meet the growing needs of the region through innovative and compassionate care.
