The Montgomery County High School Marching Eagles band is continuing to grow, as they expand their knowledge of musical concepts in preparation for the 2025 marching season.
The Marching Eagles are led by Band Director Emily Gibson, who has 11 years of experience as a band director and 19 years of experience as a band teacher. She commented on the progress of the band, which is made up of a combination of Montgomery County Middle and High School students.
“The kids are learning new music that they are excited about. Some of my younger students are quickly learning new musical concepts that they had not been exposed to yet,” she remarked. Color Guard Coach Christy Carter also helps to lead the band, as well as first-time drum major Kimberly Holder. “This will be her first year as Drum Major. She is doing an excellent job. She has great interpersonal skills. The students respond well to her,” Gibson shared about Holder.
Other students helping to lead the band are Band Captain and Personnel Officer Daniel Johnson, Woodwind Captain and Uniform Officer Allison Flores, Brass Captain and Equipment Officer Chris Blackburn, Low Brass Captain Hilton Williams, Color Guard Captain Gracie Martin, and Librarian Jamie Brown.
The band will be performing songs from How to Train Your Dragon, as they entertain spectators at the halftime shows of Montgomery County High School football games.
