Brewton-Parker Christian University will celebrate its designation as a university with a weekend of fun activities, as all students, families, alumni, and comm unity members are invited to campus on Saturday, August 23. Brewton-Parker College officially transitioned to university status on July 1, 2025, when they became Brewton-Parker Christian University. To celebrate this accomplishment, university officials have been planning the “Celebrate the U” event, where all people will come together on the institution’s Mt. Vernon campus.
The event will kick off on Friday, August 22, as the public is invited to an Alumni Volleyball Game at 6 p.m.
The event will also feature a Alumni-Student Choir performance. The choir will rehearse from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, August 22, and at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 23.
On Saturday morning, August 23, community members are invited to the university’s arch on the front lawn at 9 a.m., as an official arch dedication is held. Doors to Saliba Chapel will open at 9:30 a.m. in preparation for the university’s annual convocation, which is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
Guests are invited to eat lunch on campus at 12 p.m. in Gillis Gym, and to cheer on the BPCU Women’s Soccer Team at a game at 5 p.m. and the Men’s Soccer Team at a game at 7 p.m.
The weekend will end with the Georgia Baptist Mission Board Spark Conference, which will be held from 4 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. at the university on Sunday, August 14. This conference is designed to help equip those serving in ministry – whether it be as a pastor, youth pastor, children’s minist r y leader, missions coordinator, small group leader, etc. – to best serve their congregation. The event features two breakout sessions tailored to each person’s ministry area, as well as a keynote address by former LifeWay Ministries President and CEO Thom Rainer.
All events for “Celebrate the U” are free except for the Spark Conference, which costs $15 per person. Registration is required for both “Celebrate the U” and the Spark Conference, and can be completed at www.bpc.edu/ celebrate-the-u. For more information, call (912) 583-3255.
