8U VRD Boys Take 2nd

In the 8U Boys District 1 Tournament held in Emanuel County last week, Vidalia finished in second place and Lyons took third. Vidalia will be moving on to the State Tournament next week.

VRD vs. Rincon

Vidalia took an easy run rule win over Rincon in their first-round matchup. Vidalia ran away with a 25-0 win in two innings.

LRD vs. Emanuel Co.

Lyons had a bye in the first round, and in the second round, had to face off with Emanuel County. Lyons gave it their best effort, but Emanuel County took the win, 8-4.

VRD vs. Effingham Co.

Vidalia easily won their second-round game over Effingham County. Vidalia pulled away early and took the win, 21-1.

VRD vs. Emanuel Co.

In the semifinals of the winners’ bracket, Vidalia ran into Emanuel County. Emanuel came away with the win over Vidalia, 14-5, to advance to the Championship Game.

LRD vs. Rincon

In the losers’ bracket, Lyons took on Rincon and got the win to keep their tournament hopes alive. LRD won the game 7-0 to advance to the next round. LRD vs. Effingham Co.

Up next for Lyons was Effingham County. Lyons rolled to an easy win in this round. They took the win by the run rule, 15-1, to move into the semifinals of the losers’ bracket against Vidalia.

VRD vs. LRD

This was a battle between two rivals that came down to the end with Vidalia taking a one-run win over Lyons. Vidalia came away with an 8-7 win over Lyons to move into the Championship.

VRD vs. Emanuel Co.

Championship It was a tough game for VRD as they faced Emanuel County in the Championship Game. Emanuel held Vidalia scoreless as they took an 8-0 win to claim the title.

With the second-place finish in the tournament, Vidalia will move on to the State Tournament which will be held next week in Moultrie. Vidalia will play their first game next Tuesday ta 6:30 p.m.
