Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library Fills Calendar with Summer Events

The Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library is sure to be bustling with activity every day of operation during the summer, as the library is hosting several events for individuals of all ages throughout June.

On Thursday, June 12, and Thursday, June 26, the library will host the Larger than Life Building Activity at 10:30 a.m.

The Kids Craft Club will create artwork to celebrate Father’s Day on Thursday, June 12.

The Wiggles and Giggles infant and toddler activity will be held at 10:30 a.m. each Friday. Double Digits STEAM, which is designed for ages 10-12, will be held from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 13, and Friday, June 27.

Harry Potter movies will be shown on Saturday’s at the library throughout the month of June. The following films will begin at 10:30 a.m. each Saturday: June 14 – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, June 21- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and June 28 – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

The library will host a few rounds of Bingo at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16.

The Teen Dungeons and Dragons group (ages 13-19) will meet from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, June 16.

The public is invited to enjoy a time of relaxation and coloring at Coffee & Coloring at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 24.

The library’s Lego Club will meet at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 24.

The facility’s monthly Spark Time will be held from 3:45 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18.

Adult Dungeons and Dragons enthusiasts will meet at the library from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18.

The library will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

The community is invited to turn trash into treasure at the Cardboard Crafts event, which will be held from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 20.

The library will host a time of fun and fantasy at the Mocktails and Fairytales event at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 23.

The Teen STEAM activity will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 23. The Kids Culinary Arts class will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 26.

The monthly Cookies and Canvas event will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 27.

The Sweet Onion Book Club will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 30.

All of these events will be held at the Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library, which is located at 610 Jackson Street in Vidalia. In addition to these events held at the library, the Nelle Brown Memorial Library and the Dr. Mark and Tonya Spivey Public Library will collaborate to host weekly events at Southeastern Technical College.

On Wednesday, June 18, the Southeastern Reptile Rescue will host a demonstration at the college. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and will give kids an up-close look at several snakes and lizards.

On Wednesday, June 25, Juggler Ron Ankin will perform at the college at 11 a.m.
