LRD vs. Montgomery Co.

The Lyons All-Stars took on Montgomery County in their first game of the tournament. Montgomery scored first with a run in the top of the first inning, but LRD answered in the bottom half with four runs to jump into the lead.

Montgomery added a run in the top of the third inning, but six more from Lyons in the bottom of the third pushed their lead to 10-2. Lyons added one more run in the fourth inning on the way to an 11-1 win.

VRD vs. Appling Co.

Up next for Vidalia was Appling County. Vidalia again rolled to an easy win. VRD took the lead in the second inning with a pair of RBIs and then extended that lead to 5-0 in the third inning with two RBI doubles.

Appling scored their only run of the game in the top of the fourth inning to make the score 5-1, but VRD answered in the bottom half of the frame with three more runs to push the lead to 8-1. Vidalia added one more run in the fifth on the way to a 9-1 run rule win. LRD vs. Emanuel Co.

Lyons couldn't get the bats going in this game as they fell to Emanuel County, 8-2. Emanuel scored a run in the first inning, and added four more in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-0 lead over LRD. Emanuel plated one more in the fourth, but Lyons did get on the board in the top of the fifth inning with two runs to make it 6-2.

In the semifinals of the winners' bracket the Vidalia boys couldn't get the big hits when they needed them as they lost to Emanuel County.

Vidalia took the lead in the top of the second inning with a run, and then scored another in the third inning, but in the bottom of the third Emanuel jumped ahead with six runs to take a 6-2 lead over VRD.

Emanuel scored two more in the fourth inning to make it 8-2. Vidalia did add two more runs in the fifth inning, but it was not enough as they lost, 8-4.

Vidalia out hit Emanuel in the game as VRD had 8 hits with Emanuel having just 5.

LRD vs. Bulloch Co.

In the losers' bracket, Lyons came away with a win over Bulloch County to keep their run alive.

Bulloch got the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, but Lyons answered in the bottom half of the inning with two to go on top.

Bulloch tied the game in the top of the second inning at 2-2, but Lyons blew it open with seven runs in the bottom of the second. Bulloch did score a run in the third and another in the fourth, but Lyons took the win, 9-4.

LRD vs. Soperton

Lyons blanked Soperton in the next game to set up a battle with rival Vidalia in the semifinals of the losers' bracket. Lyons got a pair of RBI singles in the top of the first inning, and added a run in the third to take a 3-0 lead.

Neither team scored over the next three innings as LRD took the win over Soperton, 3-0.

VRD vs. LRD

Vidalia took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning. Vidalia added two more in the third inning on a 2-RBI single to push the lead to 3- 0.

VRD plated another un in the fourth inning, and two more in the sixth on the way to a 6-0 win to move into the finals. VRD vs. Emanuel Co.

Championship Game 1 In the Championship, Vidalia had to beat Emanuel twice to take home the title, and that is just what they did.

VRD jumped out with two runs in the top if the first inning. Emanuel picked up a run in the bottom of the first, but two more from Vidalia in the second inning pushed the lead to 4-1. Then in the top of the third inning a grand slam from Vidalia, along with two more runs gave them a 10-1 lead.

Game 2

Vidalia went on top in the bottom of the first inning on a bases-loaded walk. That was their only run in the first, but in the third VRD broke the game open. They plated seven runs, including two, 2-run home runs and a 2-run double. By the time the inning ended, VRD was in front, 8- 0.

They held on to take the win, and the Championship, by that score.

Vidalia and Lyons are both playing in the District 1 Tournament. It began on Saturday of last week in Vidalia, and will finish on Wednesday of this week. If either team makes it to the Championship, that will be held on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the Ed Smith Complex.
