RTCA Seniors Decorated With Honors

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Class of 2025 showed off their academic and athletic achievements at the Honors Night celebration on Tuesday, May 6, as eleven seniors were awarded scholarships.

Kylie Acosta and Christian Mixon were each presented with the Chris and Marilyn Hopkins Scholarship. Adrian Avila received the Stewart Family Memorial Scholarship, while Gage Brantley was awarded the Georgia Southern University Southern Excellence Merit Scholarship.

Meredith Durden emphasized her beauty and brawn, as she received a softball athletic scholarship to Georgia Military Academy and the Miss RTCA Pageant Scholarship. Payton McConnell accepted the Vidalia Kiwanis Club Cliff Poe Scholarship.

Jakobe Mobley was recognized for receiving a track and field athletic scholarship to Savannah State University and the Coca-Cola Scholarship. Ella Newton was presented with the Vidalia Rotary Club Sam Polk Memorial Scholarship. James Varnes accepted the Canoochee EMC Foundation Scholarship, and Hannah Williams received the Four Rivers National Wild Turkey Federation Scholarship. Bray Williamson was recognized for receiving a football athletic scholarship to Shorter University.

In addition to these scholarships, sixteen seniors were recognized as honor graduates during the ceremony. These honor graduates are Kylie Acosta, Adrian Avila, Meredith Durden, Madalyn Joyner, Macy Kennedy, Bishop Lampp, Payton McConnell, Jakobe Mobley, Savannah Moore, Jadyn Morris, Ella Newton, Jacob Sanford, Railee Thomas, James Varnes, Hannah Williams, and Bray Williamson.

Kylie Acosta is the Class of 2025 Valedictorian; Madalyn Joyner is the class’s salutatorian.

Ella Newton was recognized for having the highest academic average amongst all seniors during the 20242025 school year.

Four juniors were announced to help with graduation practice and the commencement ceremony as Junior Marshals. These students are the top four students academically among their class: Mekhia Bell, Isaac Holton, Autumn Moore, and Grayson Smesny.

Madalyn Joyner was named the 2025 Christian Athlete of the Year. Kylie Acosta and Bray Williamson were announced as the 2025 Academic Athletes of the Year, and Meredith Durden and Jayden Toole were the 2025 Athletes of the Year.

The 2025 RTCA Graduation Ceremony featured twenty-three graduates and was held on Monday, May 19, at McLendon Field.
