Lady Barons Play In Post Season

The Brewton-Parker College softball team entered the post season last week and played four games before being eliminated. vs. Thomas
In a decisive victory, the Brewton-Parker Barons softball team defeated the Thomas Night Hawks 6-2 on May 1st in Decatur, Ala., securing their advancement in the postseason college tournament. The Barons' dominance keeps them in the winners' bracket of the tournament and allows them to move on to day two.
The game kicked off with a dramatic start as Tori Wright smacked a double to center field in the first inning. Abbey Flowers further fueled the momentum with a two-run double to left field, setting an early lead for Brewton-Parker. The offensive efforts were supported by Lexi Bradshaw, Hannah Rust, Eboni Medina, and Shelby Aiken, who all crossed the plate.
Key contributors included Abbey Flowers, who not only scored but also drove in two crucial RBIs, and Eboni Medina and Alyssa Ussery also added RBIs. The pitching was solely handled by Natalie O'Neal, who dominated, going 7.0 with six hits and zero earned runs. vs. William Carey
In a thrilling postseason showdown on May 2-3, 2025, the Brewton-Parker Barons women's softball team faced a narrow defeat against the William Carey Crusaders, with a final score of 4-5 in Decatur, Ala. Despite the loss, the Barons move to the losers' side of the bracket and aim to keep their postseason alive.
Lexi Bradshaw and Shelby Aiken were pivotal in scoring runs for Brewton-Parker, with Bradshaw scoring twice and Aiken adding another run. Kaci Paul also contributed with a crucial run. Key plays included Abbey Flowers, Morgan Willingham, and Aiken, who each recorded RBIs, adding depth to the team's scoring potential. Kaylee Odum took the mound as the starting pitcher, showcasing a commendable performance throughout the game.
The Barons trailed after the first inning and fell behind 3-0 after the second. The Barons scratched their first run across in the fourth, second run in the fifth, and managed to take the lead in the seventh inning after scoring twice. Unfortunately for the Barons, after taking the momentum and gaining the lead, weather delays prevented the game from being completed. After pushing the game to the next day to complete the bottom of the ninth, the Barons were unable to prevent the Barons from scoring twice to take the game. vs. ABAC
In a postseason elimination game on May 3, 2025, the Brewton- Parker College Barons dominated on the diamond, commanding a 10-2 victory against the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) Fillies. This victory unfolded at the scenic location of Decatur, Ala., propelling the Barons into the next round of the postseason.
The Barons' offensive lineup was noticeable, dominating the field, with multiple players contributing significantly to the scoreboard. Tori Wright, Lexi Bradshaw, and Shelby Aiken crossed the plate twice, fueling the team's momentum. Furthermore, Wright dazzled the crowd with a 3-RBI triple in the 6th inning, a key moment that saw Brewton-Parker rack up eight runs, effectively sealing the game with a walk-off run rule decision. The pitching was equally formidable, with Kaylee Odum taking the starting role. Her performance was backed by solid defense and strategic plays, which left the Fillies struggling to keep pace. vs. Tennessee Southern In a nail-biting postseason elimination softball game at Decatur, Ala., the Brewton-Parker Barons faced off against Tennessee Southern Firehawks on May 4, 2025. Despite a strong start, the Barons were edged out with a final score of 4-3, concluding their season with a record of 21-26-1.
Brewton-Parker took an early lead, scoring all three of their runs in the second inning, thanks to standout performances by Eboni Medina, Kaci Paul, and Cailyn Snellgrove. Eboni Medina, Shelby Aiken, and Tori Wright, who was also remarkable in bringing runs with fielder's choices, contributed notably to the team's efforts. This intense momentum, however, was matched in the seventh inning when Tennessee Southern successfully swung the balance in their favor to clinch the win, scoring off a single into right, where the throw from Medina was deemed not in time by the home plate umpire. Natalie O'Neal, starting as pitcher for Brewton-Parker, delivered a strong performance against a formidable opponent, throwing 4.2 innings before Samantha Mathews came in relief.
With this elimination, the Barons' journey this season ends. Despite the disappointing end to their season, the Barons showed resilience despite the numerous setbacks they had to deal with during this postseason run.
