The Toombs County High School track & field team continued to shine as they took 26 athletes to the GHSA Sectional A Meet held at Bleckley County High School and came away with multiple State qualifiers. Competing against the best in the state, the Track Dawgs rose to the occasion and punched their ticket to the GHSA State Championships in Rome, on May 9–10. Coach Herron Gardner said “I couldn’t be more proud of their efforts this season. Everyone competed hard today, and it’s exciting to have so many moving on to the State Meet.”

Qualifying for the GHSA State Meet for the Bulldogs were Gavin Fletcher in both the shot put and the high jump, Brandon Stevens in both the 110m and 300m hurdles, Hayden Roy in the discus, Juan Luna in the 1,600m run, Mike Polke in the 100m dash, and Taylor Bland in the 300m hurdles. The boys 4x100m relay team of Zireese Scott, Don Mincey, Hayden Roy, and Mike Polke also qualified for the State Meet.

With a combination of speed, strength, and determination, the Track Dawgs are ready to represent Toombs County this week in Rome.
