The Toombs County High School Bulldogs Esports program has secured a remarkable feat, advancing four teams to the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) State Playoffs in the same season for the first time.

The first Splatoon 3 team, captained by senior Christian Castro, boasts an impressive regular-season record of 7-1 and has secured the rank of #2 in the state. With their eyes set on redemption after finishing as state runner-up during the Fall 2023 season, Castro and his teammates are determined to make a run at the championship title this time.

Not to be outdone, the second Splatoon 3 team has also clinched a spot in the GHSA playoffs, capping off the season with a #14 ranking statewide. This marks only the second occasion in the program’s history that both Bulldog Splatoon 3 teams have simultaneously advanced to the continued from page

playoffs. Adding to the excitement, the Bulldogs’ Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team has made a triumphant return to the lineup after a hiatus since Spring 2022. With a #11 finish in Georgia, the Bulldogs are looking to make a deep playoff run.

Meanwhile, the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe team has once again clinched a playoff berth, finishing the regular season as the #22 team in the state. With aspirations to surpass their third-round finish from Fall 2023, the Bulldogs are primed to showcase their speed and skill on the virtual racetrack.

Playoff matches for all teams are set to commence this week, running through April 26. The Spring 2024 GHSA State Esports Championships will take place at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton on May 1.
