Heritage Improves To 10-1

The Eagles baseball team of Vidalia Heritage Academy continues to play well as they improved their record to 101-1 last week. They won games over Habersham School and David Emanuel, but did drop their first game of the year as they fell to Gatewood on Thursday. vs. Habersham

VHA blew the game open in the third inning with 20 runs on the way to a 20-0 win. Ledger Curl kicked things off with a grand slam to center field, Hardy Franklin added a solo homer, Jake Adams drove in a run, Luke Moxley picked up two RBI's, Trevor White drove in a run, JT Cofield added an RBI, and then Dalton Price tripled to drive in a run.

Curl came back up and drove in another run, and then Greer Posey and White drove in three more runs. VHA loaded the bases back up, and Cofield came to the plate and hit the second grand slam of the inning. Price then followed that with a solo shot as the Eagles took a 20-0 lead.

The Eagles closed out the game in the bottom of the inning to win by the run rule. Posey threw three, no-hit innings. vs. DEA

DEA took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but VHA answered with four in the bottom of the frame to jump into the lead. Maddyx Herrin singled in a run, as did Price and White. VHA added two more runs in the second inning off a Curl double to push their lead to 6-1.

DEA came back in the top of the third inning with five runs as they tied the game at 6-6. DEA took the lead in the top of the fourth inning with one run, but VHA plated nine in the bottom half to take control of the game.

In the fourth, hits by Cofield, Curl, Price, Posey and Cofield pushed the Heritage lead to 15-7. VHA added two more in the fifth on the way to a 17-7 run rule victory. vs. Gatewood The Gators of Gatewood gave VHA their first loss of the season. Gatewood scored a run in the first and a run in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Gators extended their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

VHA got on the board in the sixth with a run, but Gatewood plated a run in the bottom of the inning as they led 5-1. VHA scored one more in the seventh inning, but they fell, 5-2 to Gatewood.

This week VHA took on Mary Persons on Tuesday after presstime. They will play a double header on Friday at home, weather permitting, against Community Christian with the first game scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
