Last Wednesday at Robert Toombs Christian Academy on National Signing Day, Ahmelion Jones signed his letter of intent to play football for Warner University in Lake Wales, FL. Warner is an NCCAA school that plays in the Sun Conference.

Jones said, “I am feeling great today, just a rush of emotions. Overall, I am really happy for this opportunity, God had this in my path, and I am thankful for where He has taken me. I really looked at both the academic and athletic side of Warner, and it just fit me. It is just a peaceful campus, just someplace that felt like home. I have to thank my family for all they have done, my coaches for the support and the time they put in, everyone that has supported me over the years.”

Everett Jones, father, stated, “I feel like this is a great accomplishment for my son, and I am just extremely proud of him. He knows he is in the grinding stage now, hard work has gotten him here, but it isn’t over yet. Warner just was a good fit for him. It is a Christian school, the coaches were great, and he can really keep his faith in God and lean towards that. He said it was where he wanted to go and I told him to follow his heart and he can’t go wrong.”

RTCA Head Coach Matt Meeks added, “AJ was just a great addition to our team. He was able to get his name out there this year and has the opportunity to show what he can do at the next level. Just a great kid. Always asking what he can do to improve, what he can do to make the team better. He can play at several spots, and has a ton that he is going to be able to do at Warner.”
