Brewton-Parker Women’s Wrestling competed at the Tornado Open hosted by NCAA Division II King (Tenn.) on Sunday.

Jorie Richardson highlights the Lady Barons’ lineup as she captured third place in the 136-pound weight class. Richardson started the day with a 10-0 tech fall over Huntingdon (Ala.), followed by a 9-2 decision loss to Life (Ga.) in round two. Richardson bounced back from the loss with a 6-2 decision win over Mount Olive (N.C.), and a 10-7 decision win over another member of the Huntingdon team to secure third place.

ing up an injury default win over King in round two. In the semifinals, Waterman fell in a 10-0 tech fall to Schreiner (Texas) but returned to pick up a fall in 2:14 against Emmanuel (Ga.). Waterman finished the tournament taking a 10-0 tech fall to take a fourth-place finish.

Jamesa Robinson finished the day with a 2-2 record in the 109-pound weight class, taking an 11-0 tech fall in round one against Bluefield (W.Va.), before dropping round two in a 5:10 fall to Adrian (Mich.). Robinson picked up a pin in 1:39 against Mount Olive, followed by a loss to Life in a 4:18 fall to end the day.

Kathleen Fisher competed at the 130-lb open and started the day with a 14-3 tech fall over Adrian College but dropped the next two matches to King (4:34) and Frostburg (Md.) (1:30).

Tashayla West also competed for the Lady Barons as a wrestler in the 109-lb open but did not score any points.

What’s Next

BPC Women’s Wrestling will be back in action at the Warrior Duals/ Open hosted by Indiana Tech on January 26-27 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
