The Toombs County High School Cheer Dawgs have had a busy fall. From cheering on the sidelines at football games, to the co-Ed division in traditional competition cheer, the Cheer Dawgs ended their busy fall with Game Day Cheer. Their routine is comprised of a band chant, crowd leading cheer, and fight song. This is the second year they have com- peted in the GHSA Game Day State Championship.

“Game Day is such a fun season for our team. The competition is meant to mimic a “game day” environment, and as cheerleaders, we get to really show off how we lead our crowd in cheering on our Bulldogs” Coach Tilly Christian said about this season.

The Cheer Dawgs brought home a 4th place finish out of 21 teams that competed in the 1A/2A division.

Coach Christian had these words to recap the season and the state championship, “I am so proud of our team. They faced adversity with a short season to prepare for competition and a changing roster that came with many routine changes, but it never phased them. They kept showing up day after day to get the job done and you couldn’t ask for more committed athletes than that!

"Our two perfor mances at State are truly something to be proud of. We led our crowd with energy and enthusiasm and the athletes really showed up to compete. Our fans are the best in the state. They learned our cheer and participated as we performed. Our middle school Cheer Dawgs came with us to cheer us on and the support from the bottom up means the world to us. Our Game Day Cheer Dawgs went to Atlanta to make our school proud of us, and I can say without a doubt we accomplished that goal!”
