In a thrilling culmination of her high school softball career, Kassidy Brantley has officially signed her commitment to play at Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina, marking a significant milestone in her athletic journey. Brantley, a force on the field, has been the four-year starting catcher for the Toombs County Bulldogs, leaving an indelible mark with her exceptional skills and unwavering work ethic.

Brantley’s efforts behind the plate were a cornerstone of the Bulldogs’ success, showcasing not only her defensive prowess but also her ability to command the game. Her tenure as a catcher solidified her reputation as a strategic player with an innate understanding of the sport.

Beyond her defensive contributions, Brantley emerged as a powerhouse at the plate. Her remarkable hitting prowess consistently propelled the Bulldogs to victory, earning her accolades as one of the standout offensive players in the Region. Brantley’s ability to deliver in clutch moments and drive in crucial runs undoubtedly played a pivotal role in the team’s success over the years.

She has been part of a team that has set records at Toombs County. This year they made it to the Elite 8 State Playoffs in Columbus for the first time in program history and finished as the #6 team in the State.

Columbia College, known for its commitment to excellence in academics and athletics, is gaining a remarkable talent in Kassidy. As she embarks on the next chapter of her softball journey, Brantley’s signing signifies not only her individual achievements but also the culmination of years of hard work and dedication from both player and team.

Brantley said, “It means a lot to me to get the opportunity to sign to play at the next level. It has always been a dream of mine, and to put my name on that paper was just great. It has been great to see all the work I put in pay off. I have to thank all of my teammates and coaches for all that they have been through with me, and it is sad to be leaving, but I know that this is a great opportunity. I have to thank my family as well for being there for me.

“The team really felt like a family to me on my visits, and I really loved the coaches and the way that they talked to me about the program. I am looking forward to getting to see what I can do at Columbia.”

Her father Dirk Brantley added, “We are very proud of her. She puts in a lot of work, has a great work ethic and always has. Not just proud of her for the work she has put in on the field, but also in the classroom. She just does the right thing and we are very excited for her and the opportunity that she has.

“She had been to a camp at Columbia, and they asked her to stay after for some more drills, and then went back for her visits and just said that it felt like the right place for her. She really liked the girls and the coaches, and she is looking forward to being a part of the team.”

Head Coach Hayne Brant stated, “Super excited for Kassidy and the job that she has done, not just this year, but her whole career with us. She as been part of a team with over 60 wins, and she has been a big part of that. To be able to sign with Columbia College is a big deal, and we are excited to see what she can do for them.”
