Led by Andrew Hodges' 1st place finish with a time of 17:15.41, the Vidalia High School Boys Cross Country Team captured the Region 3AA Championship on Thursday at Toombs County, out-pacing 2nd place Tattnall County by 53 points. Meanwhile, the Lady Indians had a strong 2nd-place finish behind Georgia Meredith’s 2ndplace time of 20:12.23. With the finishes, both teams will advance to the State Meet in Carrollton on November 4.

In addition to Hodges' winning time, Jude Owen finished 2nd, Chamlee Evans placed 6th, and Cash Driggers finished 7th, giving the Indians four runners in the top 10.

“These guys have really worked hard,” said Head Coach Mandy Godbee. “I like the way they are running, and their attitude is great, so if we can keep this up at State, well, you never know.”

In the girls’ meet, the Lady Indians finished 2nd behind Savannah Arts with Meredith’s 2nd place finish and a top 10 finish by Sadie Siegmund.
