The Lady Indians of Vidalia High School made their run in the GHSA State AA Tournament last week in Columbus. VHS fought their way to a fourth place finish in the state. VHS played four games in Columbus before falling.

VHS was a part of a well represented Region 3AA that saw Toombs County take sixth place, VHS come in fourth, and Appling County as the State Champions. vs. Mount Paran

VHS went up against Mount Paran Christian in the first round of the tournament and came out on top in a close game. VHS got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, and then pushed their lead to 2-0 in the second.

Vidalia added another run in the top of the third inning to take a 3-0 lead over Mount Paran. Mount Paran's Eagles scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning to close it to 3-1, and they picked up another run in the sixth to make it 3-2.

VHS held in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the win, and to move on in the tournament. vs. Banks Co.

Up next for VHS was the eventual State #2, in the Banks County Leopards. This was a tough game for VHS as they were never able to get the bats going.

Banks scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. They plated two more in the third and then four in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead over VHS.

Vidalia got a few runners on in the game, but could not come up with the big hits as they fell to the Leopards, 8-0. That sent VHS into the losers' bracket to battle to try to make it to the finals. vs. Eagles Landing

great showing in the circle as she struck out 13 batters on the way to a 7-3 win for the Indians.

The Eagles did get on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning. VHS tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the frame. Neither team scored over the next few innings, but in the bottom of the fourth VHS added a run to take their first lead of the game at 2-1.

Up next for VHS was a familiar foe in the Yellow Jackets of Jeff Davis. Although not in the same Region anymore, there is still a rivalry in softball between these two perennial powerhouses. This game, though, went in favor of the Yellow Jackets as they took a seven run win over VHS.

Vidalia took the early lead with a run in the top of the second inning, but that was the only run they scored in the game. JD tied the game in the bottom of the third inning at 1-1, and then went on top with two more runs in the fourth to lead 3-1.
