On Thursday of last week Vidalia High School student-athlete Ayden “Cali” Marin-Clark signed his letter of intent to run track for Brewton-Parker College.

Marin-Clark was a two-year member of the VHS track team, and was on the VHS football team for three years. Marin-Clark took third place in the Region in discus and was fifth in the shot put for the Indians.

Marin-Clark said, “Just makes me really excited. Didn't think I'd be doing this, thought if it happened it would be for football, but here we are. Brewton-Parker got a hold of me and now I get to go to college, play a sport, and just have fun.

“I plan on majoring in nursing because I just want to help people. I plan on being in Vidalia and do what I can to support this community. I came here from California, and the past three years here have really showed me a lot. The people here really care, and I really have felt like part of the family here. Just love my coaches, teammates, everyone here, just a good place to be. Just a big difference coming from California.” His mother Chantelle added, “There have been a lot of struggles for Ayden over the years. I was a young mother, and we grew up together through all of this. So to see him get this opportunity has just been amazing, and I look forward to his future and where it takes him.”

Head Coach Mandy Godbee stated, 'Ayden has been a strong thrower in shot and discus. I am so excited that he gets this opportunity to further his education and continue to compete at the next level. He has so much potential to excel and do big things for Brewton-Parker.'
