Toombs Falls In 1st Round

The Toombs County High School Bulldogs boys basketball team took on the #4 team in the state in the first round of the GHSA State AA Playoffs last Wednesday. Toombs went up against the War Eagles of Putnam County, falling to end their season. A big first quarter for Putnam was the difference in the game. Toombs came out a bit sluggish, and Putnam jumped out to a 21-12 lead on the Bulldogs. Putnam continued to extend their lead in the second quarter, and were on top 38-23 heading to halftime.

In the third quarter of the game, the War Eagles built up a 52-33 lead, and they took the win over TCHS, 71-49.

Toombs was led by Dominic Eason with 15 points, Jesus Quintero added 10, and Marion James scored 8 in the game.

The loss ended the solid season by the Bulldogs. TCHS finished with a record of 20-9.
