Busy Week For Net Dogs

The Toombs County High School volleyball team traveled to take on Savannah Arts and Brantley County on Tuesday in Savannah, and on Wednesday they were in Statesboro to face off with Statesboro High and West Laurens.

Tuesday vs. Savannah In the first match against Savannah Arts, the Varsity Lady Net Dogs struggled to get momentum and lost to a very good Savannah Arts team 25-10 and 25-5. Anna Patrick and Zariaha Newkirk each had 2 kills apiece to lead the Dogs. Newkirk also led the team with 5 digs. vs. Brantley

In the second match of the night, the Lady Net Dogs turned things around by beating Brantley Co. 25-18 and 25-19 in two sets. Newkirk led the way in this match-up with 9 service points, 4 aces, and 7 big kills. Kortney Mahone had 8 service points and 3 aces. Vivianna Rodriguez contributed with 5 service points and an ace. Anabel Cruz finished the match with 5 assists.

Wednesday JV In the first JV matchup, our Lady Net Dogs beat West Laurens 25-22 and 25-13. The leaders in that match were Lasagessa Thomas with 10 service points, 7 aces, and 1 kill. Estrella Barbosa had 9 service points and 8 aces. Maritza Zamorano ended the match with 6 service points and 3 aces and Alivia Patrick contributed with 4 kills.

In the second match, the JV lost to Statesboro 25-17 and 27-25. The JV Lady Net Dogs were led by Maritza Zamorano with 5 kills and 4 digs and Estrella Barbosa, who had 5 service points, 2 aces, and 9 assists. Arianna Hill also had a strong game with 5 service points, 3 aces, 3 digs, and 3 kills. The JV is now 5-3 on the year.

Varsity vs. W. Laurens In the first varsity match, The Lady Net Dogs lost in three sets to West Laurens 25-18, 1225, and 11-15. Anabel Cruz had 8 service points and 2 aces and Makayla Brewton had 5 service points, 2 aces, and 2 kills. vs. Statesboro

In the second match versus Statesboro, the Varsity Lady Net Dogs lost to Statesboro 14-25 and 16-25. Overall, the Toombs County Lady Net Dogs are 14-7 and 7-4 in region play.
