BPC Track At Nationals

The Barons track & field team of Brewton-Parker College was in Gulf Shores, AL last week as they took part in the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Men Thursday action wrapped up for Brewton-Parker men’s track and field student-athletes Jaylen Green and Brandon Schultz at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Schultz advanced to the 110-meter hurdles final on Friday while Green competed in the high jump. In the 110-meter hurdles, Schultz ran a time of 14.13s for the third-fastest time of the day. Schultz secured the top spot in his heat, qualifying for the final on Friday.

As for Green, he finished tied for 13th in the high jump final clearing a height of 2.0 meters.

Schultz took part in the finals on Friday. He competed in the 110-meter hurdles final earning All-American status.

In the event, Schultz ran a time of 14.17 seconds for seventh place. With the placement, he earned All-American status for being within the top eight finishers while also earning the Barons two points in the team standings.

Women

Brewton-Parker women’s track and field studentathletes Rachel Jarriel and Dasia Shepherd competed at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama on Thursday.

Jarriel’s race in the 3,000-meter steeplechase moved to Thursday morning due to weather on Wednesday with Shepherd competing in the triple jump.

In the steeplechase, Jarriel completed a time of 12:44.98 to finish 26th in the trial event. As for Shepherd, she landed 27th in the triple jump after recording a mark of 11.12 meters. With Thursday’s events, the pair’s season officially ends.
