For the second year in a row, the Vidalia High School Indian golf team took the Area 1AA title. The Indians posted a team total of 324 at the Wallace Adams Golf Course at Little Ocmulgee State Park.

The Indians got a round of 77 from Sloan Fountain and a 78 from Andrew Velazquez to lead the way. Matt Bell posted an 82, while Matt Woodruff came in with an 87, followed by Conner Coleman with a 90.

Fountain and Velazquez were named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts. The Indians will now set their sites on the school’s 10th State Championship when they play in the GHSA AA State Championship on May 16 and 17 at Southern Hills Golf Links in Hawkinsville.

Vidalia Head Coach Chad Barker, now in his 17th year, was delighted with the outcome, “I thought we played pretty good and I am proud of them for being able to win their second Area Title in a row.”
