Swainsboro Defeats Treutlen Vikings

The Treutlen County High School baseball team got one nonregion game in last week as they hosted the Tigers of Swainsboro on Tuesday of last week. The Tigers got on the board first with two runs in the top of the second inning. They added a run in the third to take a 3-0 lead over the Vikings. Treutlen came back in the bottom of the third inning with four runs to jump in front 4-3. That lead was short lived though as Swainsboro picked up two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to go ahead 5- 4.

The Tigers added three more in the sixth and one in the seventh on the way to a 9-4 win over the Vikings.

Ridge Swain pitched the first four innings for Treutlen with Harrison Rutherford coming in to relieve him.

The Vikings are 7-6 overall and are 5-4 in the Region. This week they will be back to Region action as they take on the Red Devils of Hawkinsville. The first game of the series was on Tuesday after presstime. They will play a double header on Friday in Soperton with the first game starting at 4:00 p.m.
