Mr. Gaylon Waters

Mr. Gaylon Pratt Waters, age 73, of Lyons, died on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Meadows Park Health & Rehab in Vidalia after a brief illness. Mr. Waters was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and was a 1968 graduate of Vidalia High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, serving one tour of duty. He retired after 37 years from Georgia Power, early on as a lineman and later at Edwin I. Hatch Plant. He was a member of Milliken Creek Masonic Lodge #302 in Cedar Crossing, Vidalia-Lyons Moose Lodge #1281, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and First United Methodist Church of Lyons. Preceding him in death was 1 son, Jason Thomas Waters; and his parents, Pratt Waters and Eddress Hester Waters.

His family includes 1 daughter, Shannon Waters of Duluth; 1 granddaughter, Lieschen Waters of Lyons; 3 sisters, Weada Alderman and Wayne, Lynda Powell, all of Vidalia, and Janet Turner and Ben of Jacksonville, FL; 3 special friends, Dawn Pentecost, Greg Foskey, and Cliff Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Elder Jerry Lightsey, Pastor Owen Waters, Pastor Reece Mincey, and Sandy Seidling officiating. Burial followed in Pinecrest Cemetery with Military Honors.

Pallbearers were Greg Foskey, Wayne Alderman, Gary DeMonbreum, Steven Turner, Matt Powell, and Aaron McGowan.
