Bulldogs Over Jenkins

The Toombs County High School Bulldogs baseball team picked up a win over Jenkins County last week but fell to Coffee County, and then on Monday of this week lost to Bleckley County.

Vs. Coffee

The Bulldogs put 11 hits on the board as they faced off with Coffee, but they could not string them together as they fell to the Trojans. Coffee took the lead in the top of the first inning with three runs and added another in the fifth as they led 4-0. Coffee scored three more in the top of the sixth inning to pull ahead 7-0 over TCHS. Toombs finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with one run, and then added two more in the seventh, but it was not enough as they lost 7-3.

Vs. Jenkins

Toombs jumped out to an early lead on the War Eagles of Jenkins at home on Wednesday night. Jenkins plated a run in the top of the first inning, but Toombs came back with six in the bottom of the frame to lead 6-1. Toombs didn’t score again until the fifth inning when they added two more runs to take an 8-1 lead. Jenkins did score one more run in the top of the sixth, but that was all as TCHS got the win, 8-2.

Vs. Bleckley

On Monday night of this week in Cochran it was all Royals as they rolled over Toombs County. Bleckley took the lead in the second inning with four runs, but TCHS answered in the top of the third with three runs to close it to 4-3.

Bleckely scored two more in the fourth and then five in the fifth to pull ahead, 10-3. Two more for the Royals in the sixth gave them the 12-3 win over Toombs.

Toombs is now 5-5-1 on the year and will finish up nonregion play this week. They will play Jenkins County on Wednesday on the road at 5:30 p.m., will host Benedictine on Friday at 5:00 p.m., and will host Appling County on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
