MCHS Takes 2 From Falcons

The Montgomery County High School Eagles baseball team took on East Laurens for a pair of nonregion games last week.

Game 1

In the first game of the week on Tuesday in Mt. Vernon the Falcons took an early 1-0 in the top of the first inning. But in the bottom of the frame, the game was tied on a wild pitch, and then Bo Davidson knocked in a run with a double to take a 2-1 lead. MCHS went ahead 3-1 on a fielder's choice by Bray Williamson, and then a hit by Ben Bailey made it 4-1 with an RBI hit.

MCHS added two more in the second to push the lead to 6-1. The Falcons did score a run in the third inning, but MCHS added two in the fourth. East Laurens scored four more in the fifth inning, but MCHS scored four in the fifth and four more in the sixth on the way to a 16-6 win.

Game 2

On Thursday at East Laurens MCHS took the early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning, but in the bottom half of the frame the Falcons answered with two runs to tie the game.

MCHS scored three more in the third inning and then sixth in the fourth and three in the fifth as they took the win, 14-4, over the Falcons.

This week the Eagles will play a Region series against Wilcox County. The first game of the series was on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday in Mt. Vernon at 4:00 p.m. with a double header.
