TCHS With Two Wins
The Toombs County High School baseball team picked up two wins last week as they won in extra inning over Dublin and then squeaked out a win over Screven County.

The first runs of the game were scored by the Irish in the bottom of the second inning. They plated two runs to take the early lead over the Bulldogs.
Neither team managed to scored any runs over the next three innings, but in the top of the sixth the Bulldogs finally got the offense going. TCHS loaded the bases with a hit by Cameron Ledford, a hit by pitch, and a walk. Dawson Brantley came through with a two-RBI double to tie the game at 2-2. That was followed by a two-RBI hit by Justin Dukes. Logan Knight added an two-RBI double as the Bulldogs jumped ahead to a 6-2 lead.
Dublin came back in the bottom of the inning with six runs of their own to put them back on top, 8-6.
In the top of the seventh inning with runners on second and third, a passed ball closed the lead to 8-7, and then a wild pitch tied the game at 8-8. TCHS held Dublin in the bottom of the inning to send the game to extra innings, tied at 8-8.
In the top of the eighth inning TCHS loaded the bases. With two outs Dukes came through with an RBI double that brought in three runs. Two wild pitches later and Dukes came in to score to put TCHS up 12-8.
Dublin did manage a run in the bottom of the eighth, but TCHS took the win, 12-9. vs. Screven Screven scored two runs in the top of the second inning to take the lead, 2-0, but TCHS plated two in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 2-2 on hits by Cody Cortez and Ledford. In the top of the fourth inning Screven got a run across on an error for a 3-2 lead. Toombs scored a run on a hit by Knight in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 3-3. In the top of the fifth Screven loaded the bases. A wild pitch put them up 4-3, and and RBI single made it 6-3. TCHS came back over the next two innings. TCHS had tied the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Cortez came through with a great bunt for a hit that scored the winning run. TCHS won the game 7-6 over Screven.
