Chick-fil-A Road Race Coming Up

Running enthusiasts from near and far are invited to participate in the 7th Annual Chick-fil-A Vidalia Road Race on Saturday, March 5. Races of three different distances are offered: a 1 mile run, a 5 kilometer, and a 10 kilometer. Proceeds from the event will benefit three local ministry organizations including Paul Anderson Youth Home, Win-Shape Camps for Communities and Vidalia Heritage Academy. Paul Anderson Youth Home is a Christian residential program and oncampus school for young men between the ages of 16 and 21 struggling with behavioral problems and issues of discipline, anger and depression. WinShape Camps for Communities is a professional organization that exists to impact young people through experiences that enhance their Christian faith, character and relationships. Vidalia Heritage Academy offers a Christian education taught from a biblical worldview, carrying out their mission to educate students “Spiritually, Intellectually, and Physically” to love God and serve Him as Christ’s ambassadors in the world.

'Year after year I am awed by the outpouring of love and support from the runners and the volunteers from the community, as well as the sponsors who make this wonderful event happen. It’s always been a great success and I expect this year to be no different,” said Glenda Anderson Leonard, co-founder of Paul Anderson Youth Home.

Early registration and packet pick-up is from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, March 4, at Chick-fil-A Vidalia at 2349 E. First St.

Race-day registration begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, with the 5 and 10K races beginning at 8 a.m. and the 1-mile at 9 a.m. The race also offers a 5K and 10K for physically challenged participants. COVID- 19 precautions will be in place throughout the event. 'This race has become a yearly favorite, and it’s a really special day for all of us at Chick-fil-A Vidalia. The way this whole community comes together for a fun time and a good cause is inspiring,” said Britt McDade, restaurant operator of Chick-fil-A Vidalia. “I’m excited that we’ve added a new beneficiary this year, Vidalia Heritage Academy, along with Paul Anderson Youth Home and WinShape Camps. They’re all wonderful organizations, and Chick-fil-A is proud to partner with each of them.”

Paul Anderson Youth Home Founded in 1961 by weightlifting world champion and Olympic gold medalist Paul Anderson and his wife, Glenda, the Paul Anderson Youth Home (PAYH) is a Christian residential program and oncampus school for young men between the ages of 16 and 21 struggling with behavioral problems and issues of discipline, anger and depression. PAYH is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia. In addition to counseling and character development, PAYH offers an accelerated learning program enabling residents to graduate with a high school diploma and technical certifications.
