Eagles 2nd At Area Meet

The Montgomery County High School wrestling team finished in second place in the Area 3 Traditional Wrestling Tournament held last week at Screven County. The Eagles had four 1st place finishers in the tournament. At 132lbs. NiShawn Wise took 1st place. He had a bye in the quarterfinals, won over Bryan County in the semifinals and then took a win by pin over Ryder Rankin of Screven in the finals. Brandon Denmark won the title at 138lbs. He had a first round bye, won by pin over McIntosh County Academy in the quarterfinals, won by pin in the semifinals over Dublin, and then won by pin over Tim Frank of Screven County in the championship. Rome Tharnton took the title at 145lbs. He had a bye in the quarterfinals, won over Metter by pin in the semifinals and then won by pin over Carson Ellis of Screven in the finals. At 182lbs. Jacob Carpenter took 1st place. He had a bye in the first round, won by pin over Bryan County in the quarterfinals, won by pin over Calvary Day in the semifinals, and then won by pin in the finals over Josh Kelly of Metter.

Ethen Price took 2nd place at 220lbs. He won over Emanuel County Institue in the semifinals, but lost to Luke McFarland of Screven County by pin in the finals. At 106lbs. Rebecca Dominguez took 3rd place. She had a first round bye, lost by major decision in the semifinals, won in the consosemis, and then won by a close 6-3 decision in the finals over Isabella Maust of Screven County. Charles Rogers was 3rd at 120lbs. He lost by decision in the semifinals to Screven County, and then had a bye in the consofinals to take 3rd place. And Mason Scott was 3rd at 160lbs. He won by pin in the quarterfinals over ECI, lost in the semifinals to Metter, won in the consosemi over Screven County by pin, and then won over Gavin Strickland of MCI in the finals by pin.

In 4th place at 126lbs. was Dreshun Patterson. He won in the quarterfinals by pin over Bryan County, lost in the semifinals to Calvary Day, won the consosemi over MCI by pin, but lost in the consofinals to Taj Carswell of Dublin. Kaleb Waters was 4th at 195lbs. He won his quarterfinals match over Savannah Christian by pin, lost to Dublin in the semifinals, won in the consosemi over Bryan County by pin, and then fell by pin in the consofinals to Randy Coney of Metter.

At 170lbs. Kaland Brazell was 6th. He lost the first match to Dublin, won in the conso first round over Metter by a 9-7 decision, but lost in the semifinals and then in the 5th place match.

The Eagles will move on to Sectionals which will be held this weekend.
