Vinson came through with a hit into left field that scored Starr to tie the game at 1-1.

Jeff Davis loaded the bases in the top of the fifth but there were two outs. Harris got the next batter to fly out to right field to end the threat.

Vidalia loaded the bases again in the bottom of the fifth inning, but couldn’t come through with a hit as they left them loaded for the second time in the game. In the bottom of the sixth inning the Indians finally went on top. Vinson walked to lead off, and Robinson followed with a triple to put the Indians on top 2-1. Emma Humphrey walked, and then an error on a ball hit by Alli Taufmann put VHS up 3-1. VHS did load the bases again but did not score any more runs in the frame.

In the top of the seventh inning JD loaded the bases with just one out, but Harris followed that with two straight strikeouts to end the game and give VHS the 3-1 win. vs. E. Laurens

At home against the Falcons on Thursday the Indians got the chance to play some of their other players and still took care of business with a 4-0 win. VHS scored a run in the third inning, and added another in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead.

Two more runs crossed for VHS in the fifth inning to push the lead to 4-0. VHS held and took the win, 4-0, over East Laurens. Starr was in the circle for VHS and had 17 strikeouts in the game, and gave up just three hits. Crystal Franklin had three hits for VHS and Matlin Mead led with two RBI’s.

vs. Jones Co.

On Saturday the Indians played two games against larger schools. The first was against 5A Jones County’s Greyhounds, who are ranked #10 in the state in their class. It was a battle throughout, but Jones came out on top, 1-0, over the VHS Indians. vs. W. Laurens

Up next were the Raiders of West Laurens, who are ranked #8 in the state in class 4A. In this game the Raiders got things going at the plate and pulled away from VHS. Laurens won the game 6-0 over the Indians.

With those two losses the Indians are now 10-3 on the season, but they are 5-1 in the Region. This week they played a Region game against the #12 ranked Red Raiders of Bacon County on Tuesday after presstime. VHS will be back in action on Thursday at Swainsboro at 6:00 p.m., and on Friday they will be at East Laurens at 5:00 p. m.
