Vidalia Heritage Academy will celebrate 25 years of Christian education with a fundraising banquet on October 5 featuring former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. “We are thrilled to welcome Governor Huckabee to join us for this landmark occasion in VHA’s history,” said Head of School Jeff McCormick. “In order to kick off this 25-year celebration, we could not think of anyone whose philosophy more closely aligns with ours than Mike Huckabee.”

McCormick continued, “Governor Huckabee has been a champion of education as well as American exceptionalism. This is what VHA has been providing for 25 years and will continue to provide for the rest of its existence.”

Huckabee is the host of the TV Show “Huckabee” and is a Fox News contributor as well as a New York Times best- selling author of 14 books. He ran for President in 2008 and 2016, finishing second in the Republican primary in 2008. He was named one of the “25 Most Influential People” by Outdoor Life Magazine and was named “Man of the Year” by the American Sportfishing Association.

He has also been honored by Time Magazine as one of the five best governors in America and has been nationally recognized for his advocacy of the arts in education, raising money to provide musical instruments for children. An avid musician since the age of 11, Huckabee has played bass guitar with Willie Nelson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Toby Keith, the late George Jones and many others.

He is a frequent visitor to Israel since 1973 and enjoys spending time in Florida and Arkansas with his wife, Janet, and their three grown children and six grandchildren.
