Lady Crusaders Open Season

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy softball team is off to a good start with three wins under their belt. RTCA defeated Fullington Academy last Tuesday, and then won both games of a double header over Liberty County on Thursday.

RTCA vs. Fullington

Fullington got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. RTCA plated two runs in the top of the third to move into the lead, 2-1, but Fullington tied the game in the bottom of the frame at 2-2.

RTCA broke the game open in the top of the fifth inning with five runs to move ahead, 6-2. Fullington added a run in the sixth and one in the seventh, but two more from RTCA in the top of the seventh gave them an 8-4 victory.

Meredith Durden got the win in the circle for RTCA as she went all seven innings with eight strikeouts. Durden and Ellie Graham led the way with two hits each for RTCA.

RTCA vs. Liberty

It was a runaway win for RTCA in the first game of the double header with Liberty County last week. Liberty actually took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but in the bottom of the frame the Crusaders plated 13 runs to jump out to a 13-1 lead.

RTCA added nine more runs in the second inning on the way to a 22-1 win. Graham and Madison Williams each had three RBI's in the game. Durden got the win on the rubber.

RTCA vs. Liberty

RTCA also won the second game of the double header of Liberty. The game was tied at 1-1 after the first inning. RTCA scored two runs in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead, and then added four more in the third to lead 7-1 over Liberty. RTCA closed out the game in the forth inning as they scored four more runs to win the game by the run rule, 11-1. Graham led the way with four RBI's. Charlee Ely was the winning pitcher. This week RTCA hosted Citizens Christian on Tuesday after presstime, and will be back in action at CCA on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
