MCHS Track At Sectionals

The Montgomery County High School track & field team was in Camilla last week to take part in the GHSA State Sectionals Meet. The Eagles competed well with lots of athletes qualifying for the State Meet, which will be held at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany this Thursday through Friday.

At Sectionals the Eagles broke seven school records as well.

Girls

The girls were led by Marley Bell, who had an outstanding meet qualifying in four individual events for State. Bell took 1st in the long jump, 2nd in the high jump, 2nd in the triple jump, and 2nd in the 300m hurdles. MaKyla Bell also showed well with a 1st in the 400m dash and 3rd in the triple jump.

Emeral James finished in 2nd in the 400m, 3rd in the 200m, and was 3rd in the high jump. Jaliya Moore finished in 3rd in the shot put. Rebecca Dominguez was 5th in the 3,200m run, and Jabrayla Coglin took 7th in the 100m dash.

The 4x100m relay team finished in 1st place with a team of MaKyla Bell, Coglin, James, and Zakhia Lawhorne. The 4x400m relay team of Ma-Kyla Bell, Jada Ricks, Ashmira Moye and Coglin also came in 1st place. The 4x800m relay took 4th place with a team of Harley Kight, Jade Kight, Tressa Brantley, and Dominguez.

Boys

Xavier Brantley qualified in four individual events as well for the Eagles. Brantley took 1st in the triple jump, 1st in the high jump, 1st in the 300m hurdles, and was 1st in the 110m hurdles. Brandon Denmark came in 1st in the 10m dash and was 3rd in the 200m dash. Ahmad Carter finished 3rd in the triple jump. Jaskson Cartwright was 5th in the pole vault. NiShawn Wise was 6th in the both the 100m and 200m dashes. Taliek Jackson finished in 7th in the shot put. The 4x100m relay team of Wise, Denmark, Da'Lan Fields, and Samari Madison took 2nd place. The 4x400m relay team of Wise, Demorrius Brooker, Carter, and Denmark came in 3rd place. And the 4x800m team of Calvin Williams, Kelvin Williams, Jeremy Mathis, and Gregory Rau was 7th.
