RTCA Over Heritage

It was a first for Robert Toombs Christian Academy and Vidalia Heritage Academy as their varsity baseball teams met for a game on Saturday. It was the first time these two schools varsity teams had played against each other.

Earlier in the week the Crusaders had won a 10-9 game over Fullington Academy, and the Eagles of Heritage had lost 4-1 to Habersham in Grayson Stadium.

In the matchup between RTCA and VHA the game was scoreless heading to the third inning. In the top of the third Heritage put a couple of runners on base. They stole third base to put runners at the corners. Hayden Sikes was on first and got into a rundown that allowed JT Cofield to come in to score to put the first run on the board.

An error allowed Sikes to move over to third base. Sikes came in to score on a ball hit by Ledger Curl, and then an error on a fly ball to right-center brought in another run to put VHA up 3-0 heading to the bottom of the third inning.

In the bottom half of the frame the Crusaders started to find their pace. A hit up the middle by Rob Moore scored two runs to close the lead to 3-2. RTCA then tied the game and went on to take the lead over the Eagles.

RTCA shut down Heritage from there and went on to add eight more run to win the game 11-3 over the Eagles.

This week RTCA will be at Thomas Jefferson on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Heritage played Habersham at BPC on Monday after presstime. They will host Citizens Christian on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
