The Toombs County High School Lady Bulldogs softball team played two games last week, and dropped both of them. Toombs fell to Bacon County on Tuesday on the road and then lost to Jeff Davis on Thursday in Hazelhurst.

TCHS vs. Bacon

It was a close game between the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Raiders of Bacon, but Toombs came up just short.

Bacon picked up the Region win, 8-6 over Toombs.

TCHS vs. Jeff Davis

Thursday's game against Jeff Davis was a heartbreaker for Toombs, as they lost the lead late in a 2-1 defeat. The game was tied at 1-1 with Jeff Davis batting in the bottom of the fifth. Jeff Davis had taken the early lead with a run in the second inning, but Toombs came back and tied it in the top of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the fifth inning Jeff Davis rallied and took the lead with a run, 2-1.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Jeff Davis pitchers struck out six, while Toombs' Arlie Gordon sat down two.

Rilyn Fitzgerald went 2-3 at the plate to lead Toombs in hits.

This week the Lady Bulldogs played East Laurens on Tuesday after presstime, and will host Dublin on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. and then host rival Vidalia on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
