DILUTED BY GARY TOOLE Some of the new versions of the bible are fine, but some are not so fine. Without being fanatical, we can not afford to accept all the new fangle versions simply because we can’t afford to accept a watered down-diluted version of God’s word. God’s word is potent, powerful and sharper than a two edge sword and to pierce hard stony hearts to the point of conviction it must remain that way. I am reminded of the “Gossip Game” we played as teenagers. We lined up 8-10 young people and some gossip was whispered in the first one’s ear and they whispered it to the next and the next did the same and so on until it reached the end of which it was completely different from the original story. Most of the time it was unrecognizable. Distorted and diluted from what was actually meant to be conveyed to the listeners. Oh how easily the word of God gets misread and misinterpreted as it is. We certainly don’t need it diluted to the point of being unrecognizable as the true and living word of God. We owe that to the listeners for generations to come. Can you say amen? PD. ADV.
