He always looked out for the elder and now that I am older (not old) I realize just how unconcerned so many are about the elder. When they were talking about the social security benefits may run out by the time some of the younger are on up in age one whipper snapper made a smart remark that he will probably live to regret. He said, “They need to kill off a bunch of them old geezers so there will be money left for me.” Well, what that idiot failed to realize is that he don’t have a promise of tomorrow let alone getting old. He may not live another day and so he had better watch his tongue. Keep your words soft, pure and sweet because one day you just might have to eat them. Amen! And a good piece of advise and wisdom for the young folk to remember and that is, “It’s not always the leaning tree that falls first!” The young go too. The story was told about the father that ask his son to go get the big basket to put grandpa in. He was old, feeble and couldn’t care for himself. So the father put his dad in the basket. The grandson ask why. He said, “Well, he’s useless now, so we will just throw him in the river.” They got to the river bridge and as the man started to throw his dad over into the river the grandson said, “Dad, you better save that basket, because I will need it for you!” Powerful! Therewasa group of young folk that claimed old time salvation, yet when ask to minister at the nursing home they refused. And the word says in 1st John 3:17, “If you see someone in need and close up your bowels of compassion then the love of God is not in you!” Can you say amen or you may need to say, “Oh me!” PD. ADV. SUPPORTIVE FAMILY – Retired Lyons Fire Chief Darel Corley’s family attended the Lyons City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 7, to support Corley as he was recognized for his service.
NEW K-9 UNIT – Thanks to donations from the community, the Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office now has a new K-9 Unit to help patrol the area, as K-9 Deputy Blue and Corporal Mark Murray recently graduated from the Narcotic Detection and Tracking certification program.
