FINAL PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE Montgomery County Joint Comprehensive Plan The local governments of Montgomery County including the Cities of Ailey, Alston, Higgston, Mount Vernon, Tarrytown, and Uvalda are in the final stages of a process to develop a new joint comprehensive plan in accordance with state law. The comprehensive plan outlines a community vision, identifies needs and opportunities, and delineates long term policies and a community work program to provide a guide and blueprint for future growth and development within community jurisdictions. The plan is in draft finalization before submittal to the state for review. The purpose of the hearing is to brief the community on the content and strategies outlined in the draft comprehensive plan; to address the issues and opportunities facing Montgomery County and the Cities of Ailey, Alston, Higgston, Mount Vernon, Tarrytown, and Uvalda; obtain any final citizen input; and notify the community of the pending submittal of the comprehensive plan for state and regional review. SUPPORTIVE FAMILY – Retired Lyons Fire Chief Darel Corley’s family attended the Lyons City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 7, to support Corley as he was recognized for his service.
NEW K-9 UNIT – Thanks to donations from the community, the Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office now has a new K-9 Unit to help patrol the area, as K-9 Deputy Blue and Corporal Mark Murray recently graduated from the Narcotic Detection and Tracking certification program.
