2025 – 2026 Wheeler County Schools Dress Code The Wheeler County School System acknowledges that a correlation exists between good grooming, personal attire, and student achievement. The WCSS dress code is designed for student comfort while maintaining an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the educational setting. The WCSS dress code applies to any school function, whether on or off campus. School administrators’ decisions regarding dress code matters will be final. Allowed: Pants must be jeans, khaki/chino style, or dress pants. Shorts must be of the same material and at least fingertip length. (Shredding and unfinished hems are allowed). Dresses and skirts must be at the knee or longer. Shirts must have a collar or crew neck (polo, button-down, turtleneck, or t-shirt styles). Athletic Team Sweatsuits are allowed. Pants/shorts/skirts must be secured around the natural waistline with a belt if necessary. All clothing items must be properly fastened (belts, etc.). To ensure safety, the following guidelines apply to footwear: o Shoes must have ankle straps or backs. o Crocs are allowed but must be worn correctly with the heel strap secured. o Tennis shoes (sneakers), boots, and Hey Dudes are allowed. Piercings in the ears and nose are allowed as long as they are not creating a distraction. NOT Allowed: No holes of any kind in jeans, pants, shorts, or shirts. No knit pants of any kind (leggings or gym shorts) in grades 3-12. No clothing with offensive symbols or phrases (including but certainly not limited to gangrelated symbols or phrases and graphics displaying tobacco, alcohol, or drug-related advertisements, illustrations, or phrases). No caps, do-rags, or sunglasses inside the building. No headwear, bandanas, headscarves, or dog chains. No pajamas. No bedroom shoes, slides, flip-flops, or any shoes that are not properly fastened around the ankle or with a back. No blankets. Students who have violated the dress code will be allowed to call home for someone to bring appropriate clothing to school or for permission to go home to change into appropriate clothing. Any student refusing to change into appropriate clothing may be placed in in-school suspension for the remainder of the day. Repeated violations may result in more severe discipline. Final approval of any questionable dress and enforcement of this code is left to the DISCRETION OF THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION. UNVEILING TO SUPPORTERS – The Vidalia Fire Department first unveiled the new vehicle to Dot Foods, Tractor Supply Company, and Georgia Forestry Commission employees and representatives as a “thank you” for the businesses’ support of the endeavor.
