TELFAIR COUNTY JOB OPPORTUNITY FIRE COORDINATOR Majordutiesmayinclude,butarenotlimited,tothefollowing: Developsplans, creates, organizes and directs programs and training classes for effective fire prevention and suppression for the Telfair County Fire employees and volunteers; Acts as Chief Operating Officer of Telfair County Fire Services; Responds to fire and other emergency scenes to provide incident support and resources; Acts as Incident Commander when necessary or at the request of the initial IC; Ensures that the County is in compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and standards of safety; Provides training, coordination, technical assistance, advice and motivation to the Telfair County Fire Departments; Acts as lead contact and liaison over training facility, facility management, grounds upkeep, maintenance schedules and scheduling appointments for building use. Inspects and ensures proper maintenance over the training facility; Plans, schedules, directs and evaluates fire and emergency management classes, drills or exercises; provides and instructs for adequate employee and volunteer operations and fitness training at the training center ; Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding areas of his/her responsibility; Oversees quality and quantity of training; Schedules instructors for training classes and advises instructors of the Fire Departments needs for retraining and recertification; Prepares and administers the department budget; ensureseffectiveandefficientuseofbudgetedfunds, personnel,materials,facilities and time; as well as performing other duties. Knowledge of the techniques, equipment, and supplies used in fire services coordination operations; Knowledge of related state and federal requirements; Knowledge of departmental and safety policies and procedures; Knowledge of county policies and procedures, including purchasing and budgeting procedures; Knowledge of fire coordination principles and practices; Skill in budgeting and public financial management; Skill in coordination and collaboration; Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, calculator, copier, and facsimile machine; Skill in interpersonal relations. The position requires a valid State of Georgia driver’s license, related experience, and knowledge of Fire Coordination principles and practices. Skill in oral and written communication is also required. Successful candidates must have the ability to pass pre-employment background and drug and alcohol testing. Firefighter II certification; more than five years of related experience; First Responder certified.
