STAY IN THE RACE BY GARY TOOLE To show you how God works to set His approval on what you are doing for Him so many times when you think you have been a flop. I preached on encouraging others and I didn’t realize it until I got home. A brother had given me a piece entitled, “Don’t quit.” Don’t quit for the tide is about to turn, don’t quit over doubts, don’t quit when things are dark, because the dawn will come, don’t quit, your race is nearly won, don’t quit, you’re not a failure until you fail to try. Then I looked at a picture he gave me and there was a big old bird with a frog in his throat and the frog was holding on for dear life and it said, “Don’t ever give up!” Now, I like that! Then there was a lengthy poem he also gave me and it was entitled, “The Race.” And the summation of it was, “As he ran he fell several times and he would look at his dad and by the look on his face he was telling him to get up and get back in the race. In the end he came in last, but he was still a winner, because each time he fell he got up and got back in the race. For winning is no more than this to rise each time you fall and get back in the race.” In life you will give out, but don’tgiveup. Thewordsaysthat the first shall be last and the last shall be first. Run the race with patience the word says. Stay in therace! Mysermonwasabout encouraging others and all this certainly was encouragement for me.
