LOOK LIKE A DUCK BY GARY TOOLE They say that if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck! So true! When you see an army general then most of the time they are wearing an army uniform of some type, so they are recognizable. The policemen wear uniforms most of the time. Discounting those uncover cops. Now, some have ask about me wearing my nice neck tie to church and I do that not to show off and look good but rather out of respect for God’s house. So we are to bring our best to the house of God, but it don’t have to be a neck tie and suit. It can be your very best overalls, but the preacher don’t need to be in the pulpit in overalls. Oh, he can and some will applaud him, but like the recognizable policeman and army general he won’t be recognizable. He will walk like a duck and quack like one but he won’t look like one and I know that some of these young whipper snappers will just want to give me a mouth full and as my grandpa use to say, “If you feel froggy then go ahead and jump!” Amen! Speaking of bringing our best. Abel brought his best, but his brother Cain did not. So many churches have gotten too casual that in some cases it is disrespecting the house of God. Coming in shorts like they are going to the beach. When I was a child we didn’t have a lot but my mother made me wear my Sunday best and I’m glad she did. They taught us respect. And speaking of dressing up rather than down. So many will put on a suit for a wedding and then come to church like they are going fishing. Speaking of that. I was looking at this preacher on television some time back and he was in the pulpit preaching and he looked like he was going fishing. Now, I know Jesus said in Matthew 4:19, that He would make us fishers of men, but He didn’t mean for us to look like fishermen! Can you say amen? PD. ADV.
