RONALD MILLER FOR WARD 3 CITY COUNCILMAN This is my goal Ward 3 for all of us working together: I am seeking the position of Ward 3 City Councilman for the City of Vidalia because of my commitment to making the city of my birth the best place to live in Southeast Georgia for all people, irrespective of race, color, gender, or creed. I had never dreamed that in June 2018, I would be appointed to pastor Saint Paul AME Church in Vidalia - a church in the very neighborhood where I grew up. It was a joy for me to return to the city where I attended public schools. I am a proud graduate of Vidalia High School, where I was an outstanding member of the basketball and track teams. Even as a young person, I was civic-minded, serving as the Junior NAACP President. SHAPE THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER S-Bring Secure and Safety to bring Stability to Ward 3 community. H-Establish decent affordable housing that would give our Ward 3 community Hope and a Healthier life. A - Hold our city officials Accountable for Accuracy in delivering better municipal services to Ward 3. P - Changing Poverty to Prosperity in Ward 3. E - Generating an Environment for Ward 3 that improves its infrastructures and reflects Equality especially in drainage systems, road surfaces, and lighting. Low-Income Communities Economically. Inc. (ELICE). As its first project, ELICE created the MLK, Jr .Avenue Project to renew MLK, Jr. Avenue, including recognizing all the historical businesses that once existed on the avenue and cleaning up the historic East Park Cemetery. As ELICE looks back on its achievements for the past year, we see a repaved MLK, Jr. Avenue, streetlights, and most importantly, a cleaned-up East Park Cemetery. ELICE’s volunteer membership comprises people from all religious groups and races. The success of ELICE is just one example of my ability to bring about change in a community. I also bring my experience as an educator (teacher and coach in schools in Florida, Georgia, and New Jersey), in managerial positions, in appointed positions on city commissions (New Jersey), and my work with community groups such as CETA and Upper-Bound programs. I also organized and led a city-wide march against drugs in Tifton, Georgia. In Camden, New Jersey, my appeal to the city resulted in the destruction of vacant dilapidated housing in the community. In Camden, New Jersey, I also changed a street name to reflect its historical significance to the community. In Atlanta, I had a street changed to one-way for the safety of visually impaired citizens. In Philadelphia and Georgia, I initiated a program named Feed-ACare that fed and gave educational instructions to children during the summer months. These programs each attracted over one hundred children. Educationally, I hold an AA from Brewton Parker College, Mount Vernon, GA, a dual BS from Florida Memorial University Miami, FL, in Health and Physical Education and Biology, a M.Div. from Turner Theological Seminary, Atlanta, GA, a Mediation Training Certification from the Atlanta Justice Center and Train- ing Certification from the Center for Visual Impaired, Atlanta, GA. In 2021, I was inducted into the Turner Seminary Hall of Fame. My dream in 2025 is to use my experience to enhance Ward 3. As I have traveled throughout the city, I have become fired up to see my city, especially Ward 3, invigorated with a new spirit of community involvement for the betterment of all the citizens. To this end, in April 2024, I called a meeting with members of the Vidalia community to volunteer with a nonprofit corpo ration that I formed, known as Enhancing I - I intend to hold periodic meetings in the Ward with the public and business owners to ensure the input of all citizens and business owners in Ward 3, respecting concerns that need to be addressed at the city level.
