PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE REZONING REQUEST Parcel V09-139 & Parcel C28-002 A request to rezone Parcel V09-139 has been received by the City of Vidalia. This parcel is located on Peacock Street at the corner of Peacock Street and Fifth Avenue. The request is to rezone this parcel from C-3, Highway-Oriented Commercial District, to R-3, Multi-Family Residential, for the purpose of constructing small, residential living units. The property is further described below: All that tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the City of Vidalia, 51st G.M. District of Toombs County, Georgia, containing 0.899 of an acre, more or less, and being more particularly shown on a certain plat of survey prepared by R. Kim Dolan, Registered Surveyor, dated August 30, 2006, and recorded in Plat Book 30, page 379, in the Office of the Clerk of the Superior Court of Toombs County, Georgia, which plat and record thereof are incorporated herein, by reference, and made a part of this description. Said tract is bounded, now or formerly, as follows: North by land of Dilip and Gunvanti Javeri; East by the right-of-way of Peacock Street; South by the right-of-way of 5th Street; and West by land of Janet D. Hogans. Said tract is the same tract as conveyed to James Faircloth from Amanda Swinton, by warranty deed, recorded on May 17, 2022, in Deed Book 1403, pages 20-21, in the Office of the Clerk of the Superior Court of Toombs County, Georgia. A request to rezone a 7.75 acre portion of Parcel C28-002 located on Mose Coleman Road. The request is to rezone this parcel from A-1, Agriculture, to C-3, Highway-Oriented Commercial District, for the purpose of constructing hotel/motel. The portion of the property is further described: That tract of land in the 156th G.M. District of Toombs County, Georgia, being bounded as follows, to wit: North by US Hwy No. 280; East by land of Mitt Rollins; South by the run of Little Rocky Creek; and West by land of Toombs County, Georgia, formerly of J C Morris. Said tract consists of three tracts locally known as the “Mose Coleman Home Place”, the “Mrs. Vannah Coleman Place” and the “Ferst Coleman Place”. A public hearing will be held by the Vidalia Planning & Zoning Commission on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. A final review and determination of request(s) will be held by the Vidalia City Council on March 10, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Both hearings will be conducted in the Council Chambers located within the Municipal Annex, 302 E. First Street, Vidalia, GA. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
