Eagles Soar Past Wildcats in Dominating 53-14 Victory
Vidalia Heritage Academy's high-octane offense was on full display Friday night as the Eagles football team defeated the Westwood Academy Wildcats 53-14, putting up a commanding performance anchored by quarterback Jake Adams and a potent receiving corps.
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board after the initial kickoff, with Adams connecting with Pearson O'Neal for the first passing touchdown. Trevor White punched in the two-point conversion, giving VHA an early 8-0 lead.
Westwood answered mid-quarter, tying the game at 8-8 with a passing touchdown and a two-point conversion of their own. However, the tie was short-lived. Adams quickly found a favorite target in Dylan Green, completing backto- back scoring strikes to Green before the close of the first quarter, pushing the lead to 20-8.
Adams continued his aerial assault in the second quarter, again finding O'Neal for a touchdown. Not done yet, the quarterback showed his versatility by capping the half with a rushing touchdown. Despite struggling on their two-point attempts in the first half, VHA headed into halftime firmly in control, 328.
The third quarter saw the Eagles extend their lead further. Adams and Green linked up for their third touchdown connection of the night. Running back Trevor White took over from there, scoring two rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including one followed by a successful two-point pass to O'Neal and a PAT from Sergei Fontaine. The Eagles finished the third quarter with a massive 53-8 advantage.
Westwood managed one final score late in the fourth quarter with a rushing touchdown, but it was far too little, too late. The Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles closed out the contest with a decisive 53-14 victory over the Wildcats.
Adams, Green, O'Neal, and White led the charge in a stellar team effort that moved the Eagles one step further into their successful campaign. Heritage is now 5-1 on the season and they are 4-1 in Region play.
This week the Eagles will host Region foe Crisp Academy on Friday night with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
