Lady Crusaders Dominate With Three Big Wins


The Robert Toombs Christian Academy’s Lady Crusaders softball team were on fire last week, winning all three of their matchups in dominant fashion. With strong bats, aggressive base running, and solid pitching, the Lady Crusaders outscored their opponents 46-6 across three games, toppling Tattnall County, Twiggs Academy, and First Preparatory Christian Academy. vs. Tattnall Co.
The Lady Crusaders started their perfect week with a 9-3 victory over Tattnall County on Monday. After Tattnall County got on the board with one run in the first inning, RTCA responded with a strong offensive surge. They took a commanding 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning with multiple singles, including hits from Annabelle Coe and Kinsley Kennedy.
Tattnall added a run in the top of the second inning to close the lead to 4-2, but in the fifth inning RTCA added two more runs to extend their lead to 6-2. Those runs came off of a solo home run by Mary Frances Stanley, and a solid single by Lizzie Sapp.

game out of reach in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three more runs to secure the 9-3 win.

On Tuesday, the Lady Crusaders' offense was unstoppable as they defeated Twiggs Academy 15-3. The team set the tone early, scoring eight runs in the first inning. The big inning was highlighted by several singles, with runs scored from an error, and multiple runs scored by Amelia Mercer, Braylin Pittman, Kinsley Kennedy, and Chesney Burch.
RTCA continued to add to their lead in the second inning, scoring two more runs to make it 10-0 off balls hit by Kinsley Kennedy and Lizzie Sapp. Twiggs plated one run in the bottom of the third inning, but RTCA answered with another in the top of the fourth.
While Twiggs Academy managed to score a couple of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Crusaders put the game away in the fifth by scoring four additional runs on four hits, including a three-run home run by Mary Frances Stanley. That gave RTCA the win, 15- 3. vs. FPCA
The week concluded with a resounding 22-0 shutout of First Preparatory Christian Academy. The Lady Crusaders' bats were on fire from the very beginning, as they racked up an incredible 13 runs in the first inning. The offense was powered by a triple from Elin Haygood, a double by Annabelle Coe, and multiple singles from Kinsley Kennedy, Elin Haygood, Chesney Burch, Amelia Mercer, and Mary Frances Stanley.
Not content with their huge lead, RTCA piled on nine more runs in the second inning, with hits from Briley Haire, Braylin Pittman, Amelia Mercer, and Annabelle Coe. The game was called after the third inning due to the mercy rule, solidifying a perfect week for the Lady Crusaders.
This week the Lady Crusaders were at Thomas Jefferson Academy on Monday and Trinity Christian on Tuesday, both after press time. They won’t be back in action until next Tuesday when they make the short trip to Vidalia Heritage Academy at 5:30 p.m.
