The Toombs County High School Bulldogs varsity football team celebrated Homecoming in grand fashion, delivering a dominant and explosive 59-7 performance against the Indians of Charlton County on Friday night. The Bulldogs controlled the game from the opening kickoff, scoring early and often in a firstquarter blitz that left no doubt about the outcome.

Also during halftime of the game, Toombs crowned their 2025 Homecoming Queen and Princess. The Homecoming Queen was Aubrey Gay, and the Princess was Vanessa Lucas.

The scoring barrage began just moments into the contest. After the opening kickoff, running back Nick Carroll put the Bulldogs on the board with a 5-yard rushing touchdown. While the initial pointafter was missed, Toombs County’s defense quickly created another opportunity. In a flash, Kyrell Williams recovered a Charlton County fumble and returned it for a 1-yard defensive touchdown, pushing the score to 13-0 after a successful PAT by Alex Otero. The Bulldogs' momentum was unstoppable, with Carroll finding the end zone for the second time on an 11-yard run just a few plays later.

The aerial assault then took center stage. Quarterback Joseph Owens connected with receiver Brandon Stevens on a beautiful 64-yard passing touchdown, extending the Bulldogs’ lead. Not to be outdone, running back Donterrius Mincey broke loose for a massive 55-yard rushing touchdown with just three minutes left in the first quarter, capping off an incredible 32-point offensive explosion for Toombs County.

the shutout in the second quarter, but the Bulldogs’ offense responded immediately. After the Indians' rushing touchdown, Owens found his favorite target of the night, Nick Carroll, for a 55-yard passing touchdown, stretching the lead to 39-7 as the teams headed into halftime.

The second half continued to be all Toombs County. Justin Powell got in on the action in the third quarter with an 18-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a 13-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Joseph Owens. These two scores extended the Bulldogs' commanding lead to 52-7. Toombs County continued to roll in the final frame, as Zay Walton capped off the scoring with a 15-yard rushing touchdown with four minutes left. Kicker Lawton Toole sealed the deal with a successful point-after, bringing the final score to 59-7.

The victory was a complete team effort, with the offense showcasing its versatility and the “Red Bullet” held Charlton County to just 83 yards of total offense, preventing any chance of a comeback.

Owens added 157 yards passing to his division leading totals. He was 6-10 passing on the night. He now has 891 yards passing on the season and is at the top of Class A Division 1, and is ninth in the state across all classifications. Powell had 111 yards rushing on the night, with Mincey adding 72 yards.

Toombs is now 4-1 on the season. The Bulldogs have this week off and will be back in action next Friday night when they host the Warriors of Tattnall County at 8:00 p.m.
